Technical Requirements for Liquid Level Switch in Extraction Process


In the extraction process of pharmaceutical industry, flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful and corrosive solvents are often used, and there is a certain high temperature environment in the process requirements. In order to measure the liquid level in purification process, it is necessary to consider whether the wetting material, explosion-proof level and high temperature resistance of the liquid level switch.


1. Wetting material: due to the corrosion characteristics of solvents, the wetting material should have high anti-corrosion performance. As ranked by anti-corrosion capacity, carbon steel, 304ss, 316ss, 316L, stainless steel lining tetrafluoride, and harrington alloy can be chosen.


2. Explosion-proof: Intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas by limiting the energy available for ignition. In signal and control circuits that can operate with low currents and voltages, the intrinsic safety approach simplifies circuits and reduces installation cost over other protection methods.


3. High temperature resistance: High temperature resistance is aimed at the temperature of measured medium. Different processes require medium temperatures ranging from minus tens to hundreds of degrees. For example, metals have very strong thermal conductivity, so its electronic components in circuit usually do not exceed 85℃. Therefore, the high temperature resistance determines the service life of the instrument. The liquid level switch is objectively required to have high temperature resistance for extraction process.
